Biography
As an eternal daydreamer my hope is that my pottery will
evoke a sense of calm, spark an old memory and peaceful
thought or two.
My fascination for ceramics began on Arran. Having spent a
childhood of summer holidays and then bringing my own
family to the island, a day would often be spent by myself
exploring potters and artist’s workshops.
In 2018 I scratched the pottery itch I had developed and
took a weekend ceramics workshop in Edinburgh.
By early 2019 I had bought my own wheel and kiln and had
set about teaching myself to throw and fire my own work.
Clay had firmly taken hold of me!
I work with porcelain clay and add stains and other
materials to bring my love of blue and the beach to life. All
my work is thrown on my potter’s wheel. I manipulate and
shape each pebble after throwing to create a unique one off
piece. No two are alike!
I leave most of my work unglazed on the exterior and
diamond polished so each piece resembles a silky smooth
pebble washed by the sea.
I want my pottery to be tactile and calming, to be touched
and held, and hopefully enjoyed.
My inspiration is usually found by the sea and amongst
sandy and pebbly beaches.
